We’re writing to let you know a new payment capability called PayTo is now available.
What is PayTo?
PayTo is a new, secure payment option that lets you see, authorise and manage payments from eligible bank accounts for things like recurring bills, subscriptions, memberships and online purchases.
How does PayTo work?
Once you’ve selected PayTo as a payment option, the business or merchant will send you a digital payment request, called a PayTo agreement, for you to authorise or decline in the Westpac App or Online Banking.
Once approved the business will be able to debit your nominated account in accordance with the terms of the PayTo agreement. You can pause, cancel or resume all your PayTo agreements at any time in the Westpac App or Online Banking.
How do I get started?
1. Look for the PayTo symbol when making payments.
2. Enter your eligible BSB and account number, or PayID.
3. Review and authorise your new PayTo Payment Agreement in Online Banking or the Westpac App.
4. You can view, pause or cancel your PayTo agreements anytime.

So it’s like a credit card, except you pay straight away, rather than a month later?

You dont need to join any of these third party operatives between you and the people who you have to pay a bill to.
Just use Bpay or some such.

OK, I love the BPays as much as anyone, but if you want an automatic regular payment, you can’t do that with BPay.

Can you?

That sounds like a direct debit which isn’t B-Pay.

Actually that might not be correct.

looks like the banks are scrambling to reassure their customers that their deets are safe via another app that will inevitably cost more money in the long run…

been using PP for over 30 Years without a hitch… they even guarantee all purchases.

Once you’ve selected PayTo as a payment option, the business or merchant will send you a digital payment request, called a PayTo agreement, for you to authorise or decline in the Bank of choice App or Online Banking.
Once approved the business will be able to debit your nominated account in accordance with the terms of the PayTo agreement. You can pause, cancel or resume all your PayTo agreements at any time in the Bank of choice App or Online Banking.

Over the coming months, you’ll start to see more businesses offering PayTo where they take payments.

>It seems that there will be lots of encouragement to businesses to take this option up before it will begin to work.
Maybe it will be like PayPal. If all the businesses take it on?

I beg your pardon? They can do what???

I mean, most banks have that sorta facility already. But once you authorise a regular direct debit like that, try and go stop it!!

Nah……. if I need to do a regular payment, like monthly internet etc, it can go on my credit card. At least that stops when the credit card expires.

a few months ago
I was making a donation
and messed up by missing
the decimal point and donated
1 thousand dollars instead of 1o O-8=

PayPay stopped the payment, contacted the bank
& worked w/them to fully refund my money from the 3rd party (-:

I gave up totally on PayPal when they refused to accept my new password. But I still get spam messages claiming to be from PayPal.

So number one thought is that PayTo is about to become the number one message heading for new spambots.
