‘Western Sydney was already the hottest place on earth three years ago,’ he said.

‘It will happen again.’

Mr Austin is referring to when Penrith, about 55km west of the CBD, hit a record-breaking 48.9°C on January 4, 2020, and was officially the hottest place on earth.

The mind-boggling temperature was recorded as the state was ravaged by bushfires, with inner Sydney hitting 35°C on the same day.

Our roof is white. It’s a flat roof, common around here, and is covered in a membrane. We noticed the difference in temperature after it was done.

Unfortunate it may be but I have a tiled roof and it is a shade of brown. However, I’ve planted a bloody lot of trees to compensate.

recycling garbage into compost
making good use of grey water
and free native species seeds

…just add 40 yrs of backbreaking work…

thank you

I even planted the dead ones. The one in the foreground is three years old but it does have some competition for root space and water catchment.

If You Build It, They Will Come

everything from Beardies to flocks of Major Mitchells
and an a supporting eco system in between

…and it runs in the family…
3 generations & counting of regreening the desert

that’s the answer… not painting roofs

white roofs may buy us some time
but it won’t restore the lost animals
but greening the land is a better long time goal for sure

I wonder if there could be a little bit of hype in that article?
