Haven’t heard much about it recently, so I had a look:

https://climate.nasa.gov/vital-signs/sea-level/

So it looks like we are at about 4 mm/year now.

Even without any acceleration that’s about 500 mm since 1993 by the end of the century.

What do IPCC say?

With added wind effects even 500 mm seems like a real problem to me.

Shouldn’t we be doing more on improving flood defences?

Or are people already doing this in secret?

Islanders are buying boats.
They are talking about moving Lismore.

The bottom graph is just a poorer version of the top one. It was supposed to be deleted.

Lismore is more about water coming from the other direction though isn’t it?

Shouldn’t we be moving the Gold Coast?

It’s washing away each year and the only reason it is still there is that they keep dumping sand on it.

I’m sure it will all work out one way or another.

S’pose I’ll have to look up IPCC myself then:

Let the ball roll. If it floods low lying cities they probably shouldn’t have been built there in the first place.

Remember the floods over here not so long ago in QLD ?the council had allowed property developers to build in flood zones – people died.

4 mm per year. I thought it was less than that. Wasn’t it closer to half that?

Isn’t constant around the world of course, because of isostatic rebound, coral growth, sand dunes and coastal erosion, consolidation of sediments and tectonic movement.

Sorry I won’t be around in 200 years to see if you are right.

Please check the year of your prediction was made, then check later scientific predictions based on undated evidence.
