This seems to be up to date, reliable and quite a complex read. But there is a summary box at the bottom.

Ta, Buffy.

My condition was detected very early, so i’m quite optimistic about it.

The hard part will be telling Spalding Jr. about it. He worries rather a lot over his own health (no idea where he got that from, no-one else in the family like that, except for one of my uncles), so i don’t want to give him another thing to fret over. But, it will have to be done, sooner or later.

Something to note (from the article), if you know you’re going to get a PSA test done, be celibate for a few days beforehand.

‘Men who have a raised PSA (>3) should undergo a second test, ensuring that sexual activity did not take place for three to four days before the test as ejaculation can result in a false positive.’

As can a PR examination or insertion of catheter.

I’ve also seen something about pushbike riding upping the levels. So presumably don’t ride to your appointment either.

:)

Oh, prostate-specific antigen.

PSA screening at 11 years … only 570 men needed to be screened to prevent one prostate cancer death at 16 years compared with 742 men at 13 years … study at 22 years”. What the heck do they mean by those years? Obviously not men 11, 16, 13 and 22 years old.

They mean 11,16,13 and 22 years into the study.

I’m sure the science will be adequate :)

Seeing as someone else has brought up the said organ I went to the ER Saturday and the doctor examined me and I have an inflamed prostate, got some antibiotics for it.
Was painful the night before stopped me sleeping

We’re you surprised an MD stuck a finger up your bum when you went in for a sore wrist?
