I’ve been promising myself for ages that I’d write this.
It’s not complete yet as I want to add a predicted number of human deaths and predicted number of wild vertebrate deaths.

And I can’t help the feeling that I’ve missed about half of the early ones.
Deliberately excluded are predicted religious apocalypses such as the Mayan calendar scare, and ridiculous ones like invasion by Martians.

Here’s the list. The date is when the apocalypse first became public knowledge, or a bad instance.

For instance, comets and omens both positive and negative were associated from antiquity, but it was only with the 1566 comet that it came to be believed that a comet had caused an earthquake.

Care to tell us in a bit more detail what an apocalypse is?

I mean it seems a little odd to include the dreaded bicycle, but not railways or cars/trucks, or even the steam engine.

And where is the mechanical loom?

And isn’t 1811 a bit late for industrialisation?

And why include anal sex but not vaginal sex?

(racist joke)

anywho; nah…
I’ve purchases nicer fluffier 12 packs since then;
but the problem that remains was that I’d panic-purchased
crumby single ply TP that kept getting pushed to the REAR in favor
of the fluffier more absorbent 2 ply embossed brands … but I’m still reluctant
to FLUSH the CRAPPY stuff for fear that COVID will return and bite me in the rear.

Medically inspired in this case as it was invented by doctors and appeared in medical textbooks.
