Been Picking Cherry toms for a Couple of weeks now, On all the other Plants Grossie Lizzies Seem Fairly Large but seem to be staying green for a while and No Sign of Colouring up.
Reason I’m thinking Are, Tomatoes like the Sun, And where not getting Summer Like Weather, or I’ve Missed Feeding them something Very Important.

I just want a Decent ripe Tom on my Sandwich or with some Ham and egg.

Seem most people say pick them and put them with something ripe. Might try it with a couple and try try that Pot ash on the plants.

I have lots of big green tomatoes too Veg. I’ve put it down to lack of sunny days so I’ve given them a watering with liquid potash (just a tiny capful to a 10 lt watering can, last monday) so I’ll see how they go. I’m taking better care of this years lot. I’ve taken off the laterals and removed a lot of leaf for maximum sunlight to get in, and for better air circulation.

Note, I prepare future tomato beds by dumping ashes from the stove in that spot the winter before. I try to change the spot each year.

I wondered about ashes, I throw the winter’s residues on the front bed but sometimes I wonder if there’s a point to it…

There are differences between applying wood ashes and bonfire sites as regards soil chemistry..

How Much would you Use per 1.5×3m Garden bed?

Not much I spread it over many more square metres. However I’d probably lightly cover the whole surface of each 3×3 m area at least twice a year or more. By lightly cover I would guestimate at less than 1 mm per application and these applications would comprise of the same area having half a bucket tossed randomly in this or that direction every couple of days.
