Who runs the USA? Politicians and political appointees are like fireflies, a few minutes of fame and then they’re out. The predominant fiction is that the President rules the USA, but everything the President does is subverted. Everything.
The Times list of the world’s 100 most influential people has listed people like Taylor Swift and Adele. We can rule them out for starters. Michele Obama, Hilary Clinton, Oprah Winfrey have been on the list. They don’t run the USA either. Neither do Gates, Jobs, Apple and Musk.
At first I thought it was presidential advisers, but they are all fireflies, too. Looking at heads of government departments, they are all political appointees too and lose their job with every change of President.
So who in the USA is the equivalent of Himmler, Goebbels, Goering, Eichmann of Nazi Germany? Who in the USA is the equivalent of Sir Humphrey Appleby?
Delving down below the department heads of government, I start to find party faithfuls who have served under two or three different presidents, which gives them more power, but they still lose their jobs when Democrats become Republicans and visa versa.
There is the power bloc of CIA, FBI and Homeland Security. The purpose of Homeland Security is to stop the President from learning anything useful. The three hate one another, but each offers opportunities for petty criminals to gain real power by corruption, theft, extortion, blackmail, bribery. By “petty” I mean to the tune of $20 million or so.
Another bigger power bloc is the Department of Defense and the Department of Energy. These two love one another and work closely together, the DOE provides nuclear weapons. The Department of Defense has a trillion dollar slush fund with no financial accountability. It’s financial books are so poorly kept and have so many fake entries that auditing is impossible, according to Wikipedia. Any serious criminal power in the USA would be strongly attracted to the DOD.
I’m setting aside power from businesses for the moment, businesses like the media, oil, Wall Street and Google. I’ll have to come back to that later.
I started to find real power in the USA when I looked in an unexpected place – lobbyists. This seems impossible, but I found that lobbies and lobbyists are not fireflies, they stick around from President to President. And when you look at funds available to each lobby group, the most puzzling aspects of the USA begin to make sense.

The best funded lobby group is the realtors, responsible for the fact that prices are so high that nobody can afford to buy real estate without a loan. Nearly as well funded is the Chamber of Commerce, responsible for the fact that workers wages in the USA are half that of equivalent jobs in Australia. And vehemently opposing all unionism activity.
The third best funded lobby group is big pharma, I don’t know why. The fourth best funded lobby group is the Medical association, responsible for the killing of Obamacare and for the obscene medical pricing that everyone hates. In other words, all three of the three most hated parts of the US government are due to the power of well-funded lobby groups.
So it’s looking so far as if the USA is actually run by lobbyists.

The real estate lobbyist has the biggest slush fund, and is responsible for causing exorbitant rents, overpriced houses, sub-prime loans and the global financial crisis.
Chamber of Commerce Suzanne P. Clark

The commercial lobbyist has the second biggest slush fund, and is responsible for America’s anti-communist stance, stamping out of trade unions, and wages so low that it is impossible to live on them.
In distant third place is the pharma lobbyist, responsible for high prices for prescription medicines.
Next up is the hospital lobbyist, responsible for shockingly high hospital costs that everyone hates.
The doctors lobbyist is responsible for killing Medicare in the USA.
The Amazon lobbyist is responsible for the slave labour of Amazon workers.
Etcetera down the list. The greatest damage is done by the highest funded lobbyists.
