Although called the Dinosaur Museum, it’s only 20% about dinosaurs, or less. It’s small but fits a lot in and organises it very well. I photographed the whole thing, here is a small selection.

Geological time by eras:

The most startling for me was not a fossil, but the modern skull of a dugong. I had no idea that it was so weird.

Fantastic fossil preservation of this ray.

And reconstruction of this ammonite.

Locations of dinosaur fossils found around Australia

And to finish off, here’s an unidentified moth photographed at the entrance to the museum.

Looks a well-presented traditional display.

I have a fantastic lot of fossils from the Farrs Hill. Talbragar site, that I collected as a teen, long before the site was closed to the public. I took home a single lump of rock, about 30 cm cubed and split into many, many pieces with a hammer and coal chisel.

“Agathis” jurassica

Lots of exquisitely preserved fish like these Cavenderichthys talbragarensis.
