Thank you….. some corn stalks look like there could be 3 ears on them.
Not sure what tomatoes they are and non before Christmas this year…. funny weather may have something to do with it as well as the mystery variety too.
Splendid, Lucky, just splendid! Is that lacy-looking thing, asparagus? I didn’t know it grew so high?
Woooooooooooooooooow! Looks amazing, Lucky :)

Thanks….very proud of the vegie patch:)
Number 11 is in there somewhere and I know he’s alive, as we had a lovely feed of Rhubarb Saturday night. Zucchini plants are still feeding us, though they are hard to get to as I can’t just walk to them.
Tomatoes were miss labeled, we I have no idea what variety they are, but I do know no Black Russian tomatoes on our toast for breakfast.

ah ah there you are !!
- i was missing you and thinking you may have been doing scuba driving in your backyard

and geez don’t it look terrific !!! well done !!

I can still remember the 2 weeks we had hardly any sun and it was bitter cold…so I will take these 2 hot days in my stride……..

Yep….rain has been good to us:)
Going to sit this arvo and do some hand embroidery…..its a gift for a lady.
Thats it!!!!!
I’m now soooooooooooo pissed and someone gonna cop it!!!!
I’m a mild mannered gardener who wears her knickers on the inside but not more!!!!!!
The rat has yes, been taking liberties in my garden….eating the side out the odd tomato, but they are big enough for both of us to share……but
TO TOUCH MY CORN!!!!!!!
This evening after dinner is done and washed up….we’re going to a stupidmarket and buy some rat sack for the corn patch.
Nobody touches my corn…..nobody.
I found 4 corn ears chewed to the cob. As I am not sleeping at night….I know its not me shewing on them.
Let the battle begin.

Lady, rev your bait!
We found the poison blocks more effective than the stuff you sprinkle..

I don’t reckon its a possum, just a possum-sized-rat.

:( Haven’t you got any rat traps?
Poison is a really slow and unpleasant way to die – and then there’s the risk of another animal eating the rat and ingesting the poison.
Complete coincidence, but I heard a kafuffle in the garden last night and came out to find the dog had caught a baby rat (relatively gently). No obvious sign of injury so I assume it’s been poisoned – so I popped it in a box with some food and water so at least it could die somewhere quiet and calm without anyone trying to eat it. Was quite surprised it was still alive throughout the evening. And then astonished when it was still alive this morning.
I’ve popped the box under the front of the house this morning (he can easily get out if he magically recovers) so he’s safe from our dog, but I’m just hoping no neighbourhood cats find him =/

A fellow softy.LOL
I once uncovered a nest of baby mice. The mother kept rushing out and retrieving them from around my feet. Absolutely fearless she was. I’d picked one up and ended up giving it back to her.
Everyone thought I was mad.

Aww, bless.
We had a mother rat with a nest of babies in the backyard when we lived by the coast, and a dugite got one of the bubs. The mum was rushing moving all her other bubs to safety (in an old rusty car), and as soon as that was done, she came back, attacked the snake, and carried off her last bub.
I’m trying to be more pragmatic now (after all, it’s pretty awful having a kitchen covered in mouse poop), but still.. can’t use poison.

I’m sorry to say that I am more pragmatic than you bon. Although I’m keen on killing things…sometimes

It was a long hard decision and the corn was the last straw.
Trust me, I shall lay awake at night and feel guilty for my actions.

To make them think there was a cat around?? Hmm, maybe – might drive the dog bananas though?? :D
I’m told there’s a council law which means poison will be put out when the house is demolished, whether I like it or not.. so a bit of a moot point :(

I once uncovered a nest of baby rats… Mum scarpered so quickly I thought that there was no savings the little ones. So I fed them to the Kookaburras.

The pumpkin vine has flattened a lot of the tomato plants, but there is a lot of pea straw for the fruit to rest on.
Yes we could do with some of that water for sure.
Unreal Lucky!

Yeah, I had a shower and a good scrub down….lol. Those vines make my skin itchy.
My garden has been over run this whole season, I put it down to the wet winter.
