How are we doing.
The news says that Covid cases are increasing in all states of Australia.
But according to OWID, Australia hasn’t reported any new Covid cases to the World Health Organisation since 23 Oct 2023, making the Covid data at least three weeks out of date.
Before 23 Oct, Australia was running at about 870 new cases a day.
Compare China, currently claiming 110 new cases a day.
On the other hand, although Australia isn’t reporting new cases to WHO, it does seem to be reporting “current cases”.
Which are up from 5,400 on 26 Sep to 8,090 on 17 Nov.
Of countries reporting new cases to WHO (only 12 countries are reporting on a daily basis!), the top three are:
Germany 4,500 new cases, 65 new deaths
USA 4,400 new cases, 17 new deaths
Serbia 3,600 new cases
Other countries with new deaths from Covid include Poland, Czechia, Bulgaria.
At least 3/4 of all countries are reporting Covid cases to WHO on a weekly basis.
Aha, Australia did report new cases two weeks ago. 4,000 new cases per week. Placing it about 13th in the world for new cases.

Per unit population, Singapore and Lithuania are doing really badly for case numbers.
New Zealand is one country with a high number of deaths per unit population, in the top ten. With 35 deaths in one week.
