This article caught my attention.
I can’t drive, never wanted to. As an adult I’ve been diagnosed as ADHD and of being on the spectrum.
Any experiences of this in this diverse group of obviously special people?

I doubt there is much experience of it causing problems as yet because it is a new thing that has yet to be tested.
I’m ADHD as are my children and likely their children.
I won’t be asked this question until the next tme my license needs renewing, which will be in 2027.

I don’t know your history of driving in the USA.
I do believe that driving skills get better with practice and that can only be done on the roads with a drivers license.

Same quirks for me, and I’m able to drive around okay and do other complex tasks as well, though it does depend on the individual of course. You can no doubt do things that I can’t, and vice-versa.
I was diagnosed about five years ago, I wish it was picked up much earlier as it would have helped me get through the last few decades much better.

Yes. However, my doctor and pyschiatrist suggested that it wasn’t worth worrying about now that I am of this age and have managed to get this far.

There is autism, autism and autism. And regrepsa, the opposite of asperger.

Autism was initially used to define a group of children who were able to hear but were diagnosed as deaf.
They lacked even involuntary reactions to loud noises.

Driving is useful

Why not get in a go cart or something similar. Driving around in a paddock could work just as well. If you’ve never driven how can you know for sure you won’t like it or can’t do it ?

I taught my significant other how to drive after taking the official route of instructors.

The play of the clutch, lane etiquette, how to flip off other drivers in a classy way, how to drag other drivers from the lights, how to judge your vehicles width and squeeze through small gaps at high speed , how to take the initiative and prey on the weak and vulnerable , recognising under cover cops and predicting speed cameras. A driver must continually scan the highway for a manner of speed radar / detection units etc etc
