Yes. As a civil engineer I know about tuned mass dampers, and specifically the famous one from Taipei 101.
Many tall buildings in Australia use a sloshing damper. Which I like to describe as a large swimming pool. The sloshing of water in the pool dissipates energy, reducing the sway of tall buildings due to wind and Earthquake.
An amusing story I heard was of the maratime services building in Sydney, which has no such damper. The building sways enormously but there have been no complaints. On investigating this, the researcher realised that the building was occupied by former sailors, who probably felt quite at home with the movement. Perhaps reminding them of their shipboard days.
