Subject: Which mobile phone?

The forum helped me out enormously last time.

Mrs m’s mobile phone has died – cracked screen and even before that it took forever to charge. And we never did manage to get it to scan QR codes.

She uses it for phone calls and text, not for photography. Not internet banking. Not very much internet. Not for games.

The biggest internet usage would be YouTube music videos.

Needs it to be unlocked, have rapid charge, long battery life. Google maps. Medium screen size. QR code scan. Not easily broken.

I don’t know if the screen could be enough to show sheet music scores?

Any ideas on best budget phone these days?

I got my “budget” (i)Phone off e-Bay:

USED from some disillusioned fool who bought it for his MOM
who couldn’t figger out HOW-TO use the simplest SmartPhone
on the freakin’ planet… so rather than throw it (or her) against
a wall… sold it for half of what he’d paid for it in the first place.

but seriously even at a 150 bucks getting a marvelous fone for
under 500 these days with all da bells & whistles is miraculous

Great ideas. Will look for that PO one.

Sorry, by Budget I mean aiming for under $200 (definitely under $270) rather than under $70.

If I want 5G (don’t need it but it will be superseded after a longer period of time).

Then from stores around here Motorola g54 seems the way to go. No change out of $300.
Big battery, decent camera (50MP not 13MP), advertises fast charging, 128 GB.
The 6.5” screen is the exact size I’m looking for and seems to be standard these days.
Also superseded, no longer sold by Motorola.

Will try other brands on EBay.

Australia Post has a phone called S23 Ultra, better price 5G.
6.8” screen = good
256 GB = good
6800 mAh = good
$156 = huh! that can’t be right, worth checking out.

Reno 10 Pro+
7.3” screen = now this is getting ridiculous
1 TB = ditto
7800 mAh = ditto
50 MP = good
$199 = darn good

It’s missing a zero at the end.

Yeah I think you are misunderstanding something. S23 Ultra is like $2000 .
