Two people I know have independently come down with COVID in Victoria. One last week and one just today.

Looking at https://www.health.vic.gov.au/sites/default/files/2023-12/victorian-covid-19-surveillance-report-15-december-2023.pdf I see that hospitalisations are up, and that there’s a new strain called HK.3 that is dominating.

But cases are supposed to be down. Could it be that positive RAT test cases simply aren’t being reported any more?

Yes far fewer people seem to be testing and also not reporting positive results. We don’t really have any accurate picture of what’s going on.

That’s what the nurse who stuck me with needles said the other day. “There are people dying bbut we just don’t have all the information”.
I asked is it ramaont and she replied “Yes”.
Mrs rb said that there are people sending their kids to school untested and some have Covid.

here there is no mandate to report, and the advice is to stay home if you have symptoms, otherwise you are good to go into the out. which I think we have learned to stay home if we are sick (covid or not) no more of that Codral soldier on philosophy that I have never liked anyway… seriously, if you are sick what is the first thing doctorbs advise? rest… hospital patients aren’t tucked into a desk on a chair and told to suck it up and get that report out by 5)

Yep.

I just spent 4 days in hospital with heart flutters
11 hours straight seated in a ridiculosly crowded hallway
lined with what I was later told was 445 patients waiting to see a doctor.

I was freakin’ HORRIFIED that (other than myself) there wasn’t a mask in sight!!!

Puzzled by kids untested and have Covid. How is it known if they are untested?

Ms Kingy and I were close to a positive case in June. Ms Kingy had a sore throat and some symptoms so she tested positive. A few days later I did a test and was positive, but if not for the test, I wouldn’t have noticed. No symptoms at all.

I’ve had no reactions to any Covid shot and I’ve had five. I had more reaction to the Tetanus/whooping cough and last of the pneumonia shots.

Q: Were you up to date with your VacShots?
People having been vaccinated can still get Covid they’ll have flu-like symptoms
but at least they won’t require hospitalization and a week or more on a respirator.

I can only assume that they’d still be contagious.

Most people have a mild reaction o the various vaccines which differ depending on the individual
personally, my reaction is an all over itching, but knowing that after the first dose
i take an antihistamine (Benadryl) the night prior to the shot.

It always helps to know your body.

what concerns me
is that between those who’ve bought into the notion that “It’s all a Hoax”,
people resenting the “Mask Mandate”, those that’ve had a mild brush with it
and therefore believe themselves to be immune
…sooner of later a variant will arise that will catch everyone with their pants down.

JUST found out that an old friend of mine passed from covid while I was in hospital.
…and when I say “old” I mean to say that Tony was a 96 y.o. who’d served in WWII.
Odd thing about Tony is that he remained sharp as a tack up until the end last Fri.

I’ll miss his company and our long and varied conversations.

Please Don’t Bury Me

( When I Get To Heaven… )

Lyrics
Woke up this morning
Put on my slippers
Walked in the kitchen and died
And oh what a feeling!
When my soul went through the ceiling
And on up into heaven I did ride
When I got there they did say
John, it happened this way
You slipped upon the floor
And hit your head
And all the angels say
Just before you passed away
These were the very last words
That you said
Please don’t bury me
Down in the cold cold ground
No, I’d druther have ‘em cut me up
And pass me all around
Throw my brain in a hurricane
And the blind can have my eyes
And the deaf can take both of my ears
If they don’t mind the size
Give my stomach to Milwaukee
If they run out of beer
Put my socks in a cedar box
Just get ‘em out of here
Venus de Milo can have my arms
Look out! I’ve got your nose
Sell my heart to the Junkman
And give my love to Rose
But please don’t bury me
Down in that cold, cold ground
No, I’d druther have ‘em cut me up
And pass me all around
Throw my brain in a hurricane
And the blind can have my eyes
And the deaf can take both of my ears
If they don’t mind the size
Give my feet to the footloose
Careless, fancy free
Give my knees to the needy
Don’t pull that stuff on me
Hand me down my walking cane
It’s a sin to tell a lie
Send my mouth way down south
And kiss my ass goodbye
But please don’t bury me
Down in that cold cold ground
No, I’d druther have ‘em cut me up
And pass me all around
Throw my brain in a hurricane
And the blind can have my eyes
And the deaf can take both of my ears
If they don’t mind the size

FWIW covid or a variant of it IS going around, an entire family I know went down with it – half of them caught it on a cruise a few weeks ago. The husband can’t talk without coughing. I had a cough / something for 2 months , hit by multiple strains of something (?).

The husband of the family that’s been hit by covid has taken multiple covid tests – all negative, whilst everyone else’s test has shown positive.
