His absence is presumably related to his treatment for prostate cancer, but might not be.
Does any forumite have any kind of contact details for him?

He may be in a dungeon somewhere and has taken this long to construct an internet device out of rags, pebbles and the spring from a rat trap.
Unfortunately he can’t yet type any messages with it.

Been away, but home now.
This week, i have been getting exposed to radiation. More of the same next week. Remarkable business; i looked at the machine, worth literally millions of dollars, and marvelled that when i was born, it might have existed only in the minds of the more imaginative writers of science fiction.
Anyway, i spend too much time on the computer when there’s a vast number of other things that i could, and probably should, be doing. And, of course, world affairs continue to unfold, and the personal worlds of other people continue to turn on their axes, with or without the benefit of my august pronouncements.
It’s good to learn that you’re still with us, who also spend too much time on the computer.

Goodo, we were getting worried. And I’ve been missing your nicely-tuned wit :)
I hope the radiation does its job with maxim efficiency.

Well, Maxim guns were, admittedly, quite efficient at what they did, but that sort of thing is not terribly congruent with the Hippocratic oath.

Morning tea time.
Build my own box. Interesting idea. I could then be like Horatio Nelson, who was presented with a coffin made (IIRC) from timber from the mainmast of the French warship L’Orient, which blew up at the Battle of the Nile.
He carted it everywhere with him for the rest of his days, using it as travelling wardrobe, and, after his death tat Trafalgar, was duly interred in it.

He’s been getting glow-in-the-dark eyeballs so that he can take the barely domesticated wolf out for nightime walkies.
