yeah and you’re no novice so definitely yes – average to good soil – water everyday to germinate and then cut back to twice a week once established. they grow into regular onion bulbs if you leave them long enough.

Although the stalks/leaves become quite thick you can grow them as cut and come again type plant as well. Just cut the number of leaves you need. Obviously though you will only have the green part.

I shook one of the seed heads of my spring onions into the end of their bed and heaps came up so I’ll be transplanting them into a new bed once they are big enough and I have prepared it.

Also noticed that there are a heap of self-sown onions in the old bed as well. Bargain! Likewise they will go into the new bed when it is ready :)
