Follow the money.

It’s another case of ‘who’s paying for the bullets?’. Or the anti-ship missiles. It’s not Yemen’s vibrant economy, which is even worse in the Houthi-controlled areas.

Mostly, it’s Iran. It’s another case of Iran’s war by proxy, against ‘the west’ in general, and particularly against the US and its aligned countries.

The Houthis and their stated aims don’t matter at all to the Iranians. They’re just convenient proxies, and if the Houthis were to be all wiped out, they’d shrug and find a new set of puppets.

Cannon fodder for Iran’s devious purposes.

That can’t be right. Islam is the religion of peace isn’t it?

It is if you read the Quran correctly.

Let’s start raiding Iran’s coast. Destroy a few villages and take all the people captive. That’ll focus their minds.

Piracy has been rife in the Red Sea since … since Moses crossed it.
OK, perhaps not, but for well over a thousand years.

Sometimes it is just easier to pinch someone else’s stuff than make your own. Especially if you lack the means of making it.

Pull another ship along side and unload 41,000 tonnes of fertiliser (likely explosive ammonium nitrate) while under potential fire from the rebels?

Not me!
