It’s been likened to coral bleaching, but on land — and experts are fearful dry conditions have Western Australia on the brink of another devastating ‘forest collapse’ event.

drill for what?

with neither rain nor snow melt from the mountains
how long will the underground fresh water reserves
remain available for both man or beast?

This is the current soil dryness index measured from a few hundred meters from my current location.

Literally off the charts dry.

Desalination?

Create an off shore desal plant where ocean currents are strong and pump the fresh water to the mainland ?

Maybe recondition the soil with biomass ( waste food from retailers ??). Use sheep and their associated dung condition the soul ?

Mate, if this was cheap and feasible to do, WA would already have done it, and every last hectare of farmland would be under irrigation.

Plus the aquafers only hold so much water and in our drying climate the aren’t refilling as well. Glen Mervyn dam, used for irrigation, is almost dry.

Maybe a study of the weather system should happen

Dubai seems to have some success with cloud seeding recently, maybe try that ?

Ultimately the fate of Australia might just be a corporate take over and the resources raided from a weak and divided people ? Just keep knocking down and building stadiums and keep printing money I suppose.
