I am going to start a drive up on my sewing blog today, asking for softies to be made and sent to me for the children of QLD.

Then they’ll be boxes and when safe enough…. sent to them for the children….to give them a huggle from a HUGGLE.

I feel like then I am helping and not just sitting on the fence.

Thanks Hon, but its not only me….2 ladies have already put their hand up to help. My sister Debbie is going to ask at her quilting group in Burra next week and let them know what I’m up to.

I’ve posted now asking for help on my quilting blog…Percy is the logo. Also asked on a quilting forum and a quilting group I am invloved in.

With 69 followers on my quilting blog, I so hope there will be a good response.

My Mum gave my teddy to my nephew, when he was a toddler, without asking me. By the time I discovered it was gone he’d fallen in love with it. It remained a sore point for years but when he was in his twenties he gave it back. LOL

“In the old days” they used to just stuff things, including cushions, with scraps of materials…I remember one cushion that I inherited, must have been made during the 1950’s or earlier, had all these strips of material stuffed into it, and the cover was ducking (?) (materess material for the kapok matresses, etc)

When I was a kid one of the neigbours has a multicolours elephant shaped footstool with little mirrors set into it. Made in India. One day it sprang a leak and she discovered it was stuffed with USED bandages.

Great gesture Lucky1. Hope you get heaps of support.

I cleaned out a lot of old blankets, bed spreads, curtains, pillows and anything that could be useful to donate to the cause as soon as we can get onto the roads to town. Stuff that I have been keeping because I didn’t know just what to do with them. Now they will be useful and needed somewhere I’m sure.
