This is a question for roughbarked if he’s arouns, or anyone who knows. Can you feed Warrigal greens to chooks without blanching them first (as you have to for human consumption)?

My Warrigal Greens patch is growing more than we can use so I thought I would feed some to the chooks.

I used to (seems like half a lifetime ago … ).

Also, rhubarb leaves contain small amounts of (can’t remember the name) a toxin that in large amounts is nasty for humans. But when I let my chooks out for a scratch they’d have a go at the rhubarb leaves and didn’t suffer any noticeable negative consequences.

I wouldn’t worry. It’s more a case of whether they like the warrigal greens or not, i.e. will they bother to eat them?

my chooks and ducks would keep my Warrigal Greens trimmed along barrier around them when they grew through with no ill effects.

Cool I’ll give them some then. Didn’t think there would be a problem, but thought I had better check first

correct.. it seems that chooks are smarter than humans.. if they don’t like it, they won’t eat it.
However there is nil evidence to suggest that chooks won’t eat it.

Couple of things I’ve been told not to feed them they go straight for it and are still alive and kicking.
