It would be great if the federal government did have have a website for checking the validity of links.

There are a few tools around but it’s very fragmented imo.

A website validator would have a list of:

Federal government websites,
State government websites
Banks, creditors and financial institutions
Corporate websites
Business and retail websites
Science websites
Sport institutions
Overseas government websites

And so on

People could copy and compare to validate links

Something like that

It would make the online IT sector a bit more secure especially If it was a federal website doing the validating, scamming websites could be picked up instantly if they are not on the list.
And it would include:
Domain name checking
Certificate checking
Other security checks would be done etc

Credit cards could have a mini screen to show only status information .

Some sort of passive or very low power screen.

Make it a ubiquitous copy and compare keyboard shortcut, click in the website address field copy and compare the url with the default website link validator as set in the web browser.

Something like that, there’s probably many other ways

Keyboard shortcuts like

Copy
Copy and paste
Copy and cut
Copy and compare (new one)

Copy and compare the website in the web browser

Word processing programs could feature a copy and compare keyboard shortcut too, to look for plagiarism in the open document in their default search engine.

A lot of these lists already exist.

So it’s a matter of bringing things together in one spot.

Allowing the public to compare addresses with the trusted list to look for scamming. I’m sure more things could be done here.

To Sum up.

Copy and compare a url against a trusted list.
Anything not in the list treated as suspicious.
Coding is simple.

Drilling holes in credit cards or debit cards is not a good idea.

It would violate terms of agreement.

It could be and probably is against the law.

It could be viewed as hacking.

You could end up in court and fined.
