Quite apart from the corruption and political repression, the economic management was terrible: poor investment in long term structural or infrastructure improvement. They had an opportunity for a wealth fund that would serve them for decades but they blew it on a short term high.

Last night I listened to a segment on the BBC on Venezuelan politics, no mention of a left wing dictatorship or socialists, very strange.
I wonder what our kiddies will be taught in the future, lets go to the tape.

“And then the dear leader comrades Regan and Thatcher did force the evil Right Wing East German government to tear down that wall”

Venezuelan elections were held yesterday. Almost all opposition parties boycotted the elections in the expectation that they will not be free or fair. Maduro’s party got around 83% of the votes. Turnout was low, around 42%.

so do they then say “see if he missed out on 17% then obviously if it were free and fair and we joined in we would have beat him” or is it more that they recuse themselves so that it’s pared down to a free fair core of electioneering
