Hi you lot. Me & Weirdgrans house will be on the market next week. We have some stuff that we just can not sell to ordinary people. However, we may give it to learning institutions. this would mainly concern a large Tesla Coil plus its control gear. This is not a thing I’d sell or give to a person. it is a lethal device in the wrong hands, and needs to be in the hands of those that will respect its science & the dangers involved with its use.

I may be interested. I understand the “potential” for death while FAFO’ing.

I also have a place for it to go, but I’m not sure that 270km in the back of a truck would be good for it.

Ahh yes. The Variac… AKA variable auto transformer. To quote John Keats…. A thing of beauty is a joy for ever.

i got rid my old defib (the paddle type) from an abortion clinic. i threw it on to the conveyor belt at the tip and made sure it went into the chute – sure enough the guardians of the tip removed it from the belt. i walked over and told them i couldn’t lt fall into the wrong hands – this a piece of kit that can be used to kill someone. i used to periodically put the paddles on my chest for a giggle to amuse guests – the paddles would show sinus rhythm on the cathode screen. i dumped it because when under testing the shock at R was too slow (you shock at the top of the wave. most defibs will shock within perhaps 2 mill sec of R, lifepaks should be within 60 ms) the tester would show that the shock was delivered too slow to be of practical use, plus the box was huge. it sat in my shed for years until i dumped it.

you could probably scrap the coil for copper, just damage the coil to stop improper use.

i’ve inherited an old lifepak 12 but i ideally need the proper charging station for the batteries (its convenient that way). failing that i open up the battery, see what batteries it takes and change them out for batteries that i can get a charger for. the only problem was the capnometer function is kaput , the pump has given up the ghost. as long as you’ve got NIBP / shock/ maybe SPO2 you’re in business, i can calibrate the NIBP. the shock function rarely fails.

as I said, I’m certain they know and understand the device and what it can do. I am also certain they have safety standards that surpass chalk on the floor ;).

I know they have an aeronautics plant they used to simulate flight control.. but I believe they ended that degree a few years ago. So they likely have the infrastructure to house things…

however, it’s between you guys now… whatever the outcome, the decision will be made with priorities in mind. You really don’t have to worry.
