Most powerful fuel in history, created after Hawking predicted it: 8 grams for 1 million miles

Hydrogen has been defined on numerous occasions as “the fuel of the future”. We have seen other alternatives, such as ammonia or even methanol (which you may remember meeting with us), but what if there was an even more powerful one?

More..

“Yet these estimations can by no means be held realistic, for a number of technical challenges would call into question the feasibility of such an engine.

While the idea of thorium-powered cars has been popular in recent years, yet, there are no live, legitimate projects in work. The most cited “project” is most often an over-interpretation of a concept car design.”

Also:

“A gram of thorium, the world’s most abundant metal,”

Not quite.

The Earth’s crust contains about 10.5 parts per million of thorium compared with 5% (50,000 ppm) of iron, so almost 5,000 times more iron than thorium.

Possibly they meant most abundant radioactive metal. About 3x more than uranium.

Potassium is a metal too. I’ll bet it’s more abundant than thorium.

As an alkaline earth metal, calcium is a reactive metal that forms a dark oxide-nitride layer when exposed to air. Its physical and chemical properties are most similar to its heavier homologues strontium and barium. It is the fifth most abundant element in Earth’s crust, and the third most abundant metal, after iron and aluminium.

Is that the one where they went everywhere radioactive and counted the bananas on a grid?

Thorium has high energy per mass, but low power per mass. I don’t see how it could ever be an onboard power source for a vehicle.
