I bought six aluminium chairs with polyester webbing several years ago. The frames are fine, but the webbing is starting to give way.

This photo of mine has a pic of one of the chairs on the top right:

Photobucket

And here are some links to pics of similar chairs:

http://www.netfurniture.co.uk/cgi-bin/trolleyed_public.cgi?action=showprod_VC1

Mine were bought on special at Bunnings 6 or 7 years ago.

The webbing seat/back material looks as though I can’t get it out. I can’t manouevre the whole chair in my sewing machine to patch it! The only thought I had was hand-patching the holes as best I could (but what thread to use for sewing?) then perhaps sewing some sort of covers to go over the whole seat and back to cover the patches?

I know the type of chairs you are talking about but have no idea how to go about mending the webbing. Perhaps an outdoor furniture place could help.

Perhaps ring the B shoppe and ask them where they get them from

Yep, they prolly could, but it’s either 70km west or 100km south to one of those, and I can only get there on a Saturday morning :(

I keep forgetting that 100km south has one of those that only opened mid-last year. Haven’t even been there yet. Chances are I will have to be within cooee weekend after next, and they’re open all weekend, so will have to remember to drop in.

I haven’t had that shop as one of the places I’d like to go browsing in yet – but wait till I have a house of my very own and who knows how often I’ll HAVE to go for a drive, lol! We have two small hardware shops in town, locally owned but charge like wounded bulls unless what you want is in a catalogue on special.

How much do you want to spend? You could replace the chairs completely – Kmart over here sells quite nice ones singly for $25, maybe your Kmart does too.

It’s the principal of the thing, more than anything. The frames are perfectly okay …

Yeehah if you pull the plug off at the end the whole lot should slide out.
You will probably be able to reuse the stiff plastic slide again if you make new covers..
