I think the ball did touch the ground. Even though his index finger was underneath the ball the whole time it was not directly underneath the ball, part of the ball touched the ground even while he was holding it.
Difficult one, but NOT OUT was the correct call IMHO.
Tuesday is forecast to be rained out. A draw will see India retain the trophy.

lunkCricInfo gives his height at 1.94m, but the opening line of the bio blurb says 200 cm.
Maybe he was “only” 1.94m when he first played U17s or something.
Well anyway he has now announced his retirement from Test Cricket to preserve his 96.00 average.

So I think Cricket Australia’s estimate of Webster’s height (200 cm) is probably closer than cricinfo’s.

And next month, amateur radio enthusiasts will call it dit-dah-dah-dit-dah-dit. That is when the symbol @ officially becomes the newest character in the Morse code.
Meanwhile South Africa has made 615 in their first innings versus Pakistan.
Ryan Rickleton made 259.

It will? Handy to know.
I should learn Morse code. I have the rest of the ticket, but haven’t gone onto HF yet. I tend to poke around the 2m and 70cm bands.

Used to know Morse. Was forced to know it.
Never knew there was a sequence for ‘@’.
Maybe we were told about it, but no-one had any reason to use it, back in them ol’ days.

According to the above, there isn’t, and won’t be until next month.

I didn’t know you were a ham. The Morse requirement was dropped from a full ticket a while ago (maybe 15-20 years.)

Thanks. Yes, I knew that. The dropping of the requirement has allowed me, as an ‘Advanced’ ticketholder, to get onto the HF bands, along with all the others. (Not that I’ve actually used those privileges, yet.) Doing the Morse would have just been for interest’s sake.

Two-tier Test cricket proposal greeted with concern from some and weary acceptance from others
In short:
Reports suggest the ICC will create a two-tiered Test cricket format, with the larger nations playing each other more regularly.
West Indies legends including Clive Lloyd have slammed the plan, but Michael Vaughan and Ravi Shastri say it is a good idea…
This is a model that has been explored in international football with the UEFA Nations League.
There, teams are pitted against nations of similar standard, which avoids shocking mismatches and gives moments of joy to those smaller nations, such as San Marino, which late last year ended a 140-match losing streak stretching back over 20 years by beating Lichtenstein.
And there is some reason to argue that, despite the heroics of last January, the West Indies have provided paltry resistance in Australia for decades. After all, the island nations have only won one of their last 18 Tests in Australia.
Then again, England hasn’t won any of its last 15, losing 13 with two draws, so perhaps the Ashes shouldn’t take place Down Under until it improves its overseas form.

Yes, boot the Poms down to the minor league :)

But we want Australia to have some easy-beats competition for the home tests summer.

Mind you. I’d like to see a big reform of limited overs and World Cup cricket. Over about a 2 year time frame, teams should play a series of micro-tournaments (say 3 teams) for points on a championship table. After the two year cycle is done, the top 8 or 10 teams go to the World Cup tournament, with the round pools being seeded according to ladder position – top team and bottom team in the same pool. This would run for around 2 or 2.5 years, then ODI go into a hiatus, while we do the same thing for T20 worl cup.

I totally disagree with a two-tier system.
Spread the money the ICC raises, to where it’s needed. Not 38% to India, and scraps to the minor nations.

i don’t like it either. I don’t want Ashes series in Australia to be more than once every 4 years. Having it every 3 years I think diminishes the anticipation and build-up. I’d be perfectly happy to see short series of 2 or 3 matches against lower ranked sides. Even say a 6 or 7 test summer spread out between a 2 or 3 sides. Including some venues that’s don’t normally get to host tests.

Sounds reasonable. I do like to have an odd number of matches in a test series. Three would work for me.

with the potential for draws I don’t think an even number matters.
The advent of T20 and especially the predominance of the IPL has resulted in the duration of test series being condensed and series being jammed into odd times of the year. Playing calendars are far from ideal because of trying to fit too much in.
Somethings gotta give.
