Subject: China emissions peak

I kind of missed the news that, along with its population, China’s greenhouse gas emissions had also peaked, despite continued strong economic growth. The nation had only committed to a peak in 2030 so this is a welcome development. China does remain the world’s largest emittor, though.
India is probably not going to peak in emissions until the 2040s.

What does peak emissions mean for China — and the world?
The milestone is essential for slowing global warming, but the hard work is still to come.
