Long period comet C/2024 G3 ATLAS is currently a Magnitude -1 object, but it is only 9 degrees from the sun in the sky so it is a bit hard to see. As the days go on, it will dim but also get greater separation from the sun. You’ll see it in the western sky in the evening, pretty much straight “up” from where the sun goes down.

Western cloud to about 30°, so no comet viewing this evening.
I remember when comets had meaningful names.
Went down to the beach to see what I could see. Unfortunately the horizon was clouded up, so by the time the sky was dark, the comet was already behind it. We did manage to perceive it just before it said goodbye and got a picture on my phone. (Left hand side)

yeah we got rained out the other evening so guess this won’t be one we shoot

Thick haze and some streaky clouds to around 25° above the western horizon; nothing to be seen.
It’s gone overcast. No viewing today…
