The actual feasibility and reality of building them with today’s technology aside.

Would they work more efficiently than many our machines of today.

If you had a machine that was an extension of your body but was 100 of times stronger and durable.
Could swap out hand held tools and so on.

It wouldn’t work for moving raw material

Construction though you could build very quickly

Modern body armour will likely evolve into power armour if humans troops aren’t made redundant by drones.

Thinking as I’m watching Gundam on Netflix

The mech so out classes conventional weapons

Interesting question, and one I have previously sat up late talking about over the last third of a bottle of scotch :)

my thoughts is that they could replace a whole host of small industrial machines with the right attachments. Forklifts, bobcats, hoists, diggers, loaders, pruners etc. Useful for farming, logging, small industrial yards and so on.

As machines of war loaded with missiles and machines guns, like in Battletech… maybe not so much.

The key technology is in getting the balance sorted. Without that there is no chance.

Drones are the new tanks of the battlefield.

I like the idea, but drones are the intermediate between bombers in the air and troops on the ground.

The battlefield is evolving fast. Currently, the best defense is a fishing net launched above your head at the incoming drone.

Tomorrow, it will be something else.

The drone can be coming in so fast you’ll never see it

Lancet has evolved to 4 motors , not 1

The drones still carry RPGs but now carry a pot of explosives to clear bunkers

They have switched to fibre optical guided but in the near future it might well be AI. Trump is allocating 500 million to start building a drone army. The savings being made right now are being directed to building more weapons faster. Have a look at the “killbots” thing on youtube, detonation on the skull

Skynet.

We’ve seen how “good” AI is. It can’t even count fingers. Who would hand over control of murder drones to AI?
