I wish I had some to report. No storm last night. Possible storm tonight. That surface dirt crust is getting drier and harder. I’m working on the mulch.

Beautiful weather for the show this year, until about lunchtime today, when it stormed – thunder, lightning, et al., and has been drizzling off and on for most of the day since then.

No idea how much we got though :/

Mind you, it’s not the rain I’m exciting about – but 25 degrees!! I’ll be able to go out before 6:30pm! I can walk the dog AND do something in the garden! Hmm, I’ll have to think ahead and work out what to do, so I don’t waste too much time deciding. The rest of the forecast is for maximums back over 30.

Let’s see.. the worm farm needs feeding, and the fruit fly traps need refilling, but if I do that one day after work I’ll free up Sunday. I wonder if Mr Bon would be willing to get out the mulcher and work on the big piles of sticks everywhere? There’s pruning that needs to be done, and of course a whole bunch of fruit trees need feeding. And all the pot plants need re-wetting..

We’ve just had some heavy showers and thunderstorms during the last couple of hours. Still too wet to go outside but I can see the rain gauge from the verandah and it looks as if there is about 25-30mls. :) But oh so humid! 86% and 24.8C

The rain came straight down. Down the chimney, across the fireplace, onto the hearth and trickled into the carpet. About 1 – 1½ inches of water across the back deck for a couple of hours. Apart from the lightening and thunder, no violent winds…this is what I get for having a full Hills Hoist…

This is a first…maybe I should have left the charcoal and ashes in the fireplace, soak up the water?

The rain came straight down. Down the chimney, across the fireplace, onto the hearth and trickled into the carpet. About 1 – 1½ inches of water across the back deck for a couple of hours. Apart from the lightening and thunder, no violent winds…this is what I get for having a full Hills Hoist…

This is a first…maybe I should have left the charcoal and ashes in the fireplace, soak up the water?

nah, it would have stained the carpet.

I had packed some newspaper wads where the hearth meets the fireplace…rain does come down the chimney from time to time but last night it was like a curtain of water coming straight down…no wind to speak of…

26mm in the rain gauge this morning. lovely light to moderate stuff fell throughout the last 24 hours.

it was the autumn equinox yesterday – 12 hours day and 12 hours night. from now on until september 21st we get more and more night.

this is wrong – the days get shorter until june 21st – then they get longer again until the spring equinox on sept 21st. these equinoxes (?) occur when the centreline of the earth (the equator) lines up with the centreline of the sun.

nah – the equinoxes and solstices occurs the same time each year.

some people do think the widespread rain might be an outcome of these various lunar/solar conjunctions.

True, but it’s probably been waiting longer, to be fair :)

The main reason it bothers me is it reminds me how much more I should have done to prepare the garden before summer started. Still, it’s coping a lot better now than it would have done if this happened a few years ago.

I think I’m better adjusted these days.

Perth = pretty dry.
Other places = flood, earthquake, cyclones, tsunamis.

I’ve made my peace with Perth. We’ll cope.

always well stocked, as it can be with a 19 yr old bloke living in the house Dinetta. Drive ways fine, just the lower paddocks have some water laying in them, We start to worry when the Willaims and the Paterson/Hunter Rivers start to come over there Banks.

We got our share overnight. It poured most of the night. Water lying in the usual places around the place today.

No mowing that’s for sure. That’ll frustrate D because he likes to get everything spick and span before the family arrive. I could encourage him to start cleaning in the house if he’s lost for something to do. I’d like it spic and span as well.
