Well a bit, but it’s forgivable. A lot of children will be watching.
As long as their parents/teachers point out that much of it is speculative.

so it’s actually a contemporaneous documentary about the modern lizard people

Watched most of this last night. I had to keep changing the channel because I didn’t like seeing the babies being threatened, or the dad dying of his wounds. So I guess they got me with their anthropomorphising.

Yes, there was quite a lot of tugging at heartstrings throughout the series, but that’s (perhaps unfortunately) a staple approach of many nature documentaries.
They seem to regard the “human interest angle” as requiring as much prominence as the inherent interest of the animals.
