How much of a can of fly spray actually ends up on the fly?

Asking for a friend.

I would estimate less than 1 part in 10000.

so what we do is we catch the flies in a container first, then spray a boll, then wipe it on them, and at least 0.5 of it seems to get on

It depends who is wielding the can. If it’s my sister, they drown in the stuff. If it’s me, they just get a misting.

The fly basically has to fly through the mist and usually they do downward spirals.
