Usman Khawaja, blessings and peace be upon him, might call time on his test career before the next test.

He lost favour with Cricket Australia by calling the Perth pitch “a piece of shit”.

I told yas, it was too early in the year for a Perth test. Needs a good week long heatwave of temps in the hight thirties or even forty-ish to properly bake the clay subsurface.

This was always going to happen though. Too many old blokes on the verge of retirement hanging on for one last big series before going out. Age and injury will catch up with some of them during the series.

Four days is a bit far ahead to forecast reasonably accurately in Brizzy.

It’s worse here – two days at best.

There’s the big team news.

Michael Neser is in, replacing Nathan Lyon.

Josh Inglis is the replacement for Usman Khawaja, with Travis Head opening again.

Steve Smith suggests that Australia would have batted first.

“If you bat well, it gives you a chance to manipulate the game in a way where you can bowl under lights as much as possible, so we would have done that, but hopefully we can bowl well this morning and get ourselves in position,” he says.

Here’s the line up:

Travis Head Jake Weatherald Marnus Labuschagne Steven Smith © Cameron Green Josh Inglis Alex Carey (wk) Michael Neser Mitchell Starc Scott Boland Brendan Doggett

I whole heartedly agree Mr Man. What the ball does will be very interesting indeed. What will be of equal, if not immense interest, of course will be the wicket. Do you agree?? What do you think the wicket will do tonight, given your strong interest in the ball???

A late flurry from Root and Archer has made England’s score respectable.
All in all a good day cricket.
Over.

I agree.

I was unkeen about the crowd booing though.

I thought it was just the English crowd yelling “ROOT”, sounds like booing, but it is actually personalisedcheering.

The Members at Lords had ro be held back from assaulting the Australians for Carey’s stumping Bairstow for arrpgantly leaving his crease.

What were they booing about?

Each time an England Player scored. Particularly if the batter scored four or six.

It’s a thing that has taken hold in the last ten years or so. I believe that it’s unseemly.

I might be very old fashioned, but I think one should acknowledge and reward good play with, as a minimum, clapping. And that includes good play by members of the opposition team.

I wanted someone to bump the thread.

I know. I’m just plain, bloody lazy.

I’m still trying to sort out this new computer. I got OpenOffice installed, but it was displayed all fuzzy. Enough to bee headache-inducing. I thought it was Win 11, but it turned out to be the high resolution screen. All that bit is sorted now, but it took quite a bit of trying, reading, trying again, rinse and repeat before it was sorted. Much more needs to be done. Now my brain has stopped working…

Tea on Day 3. Aus 8/450 leading by 116.

I reckon Aus need to eek this out for as long as they can, so as to get England in under lights against a still fairly new-ish ball in the evening session after dinner.
