From how he’s described in the bible, he seems the exact opposite of what most Christianity teaches.

No judgement and accepting of everyone regardless of any other considerations up to a point.
Can imagine he’d be disgusted with organised religion.

That’s if he’s real.

Trump loves Jesus because all the nuttuers vote for the man wh loves Jess but cats in every opposite way to the teachings of Jesus. Fabricated or not, Jesus was about doing good. That and tipping the merchants tables over.

He did offer a lot of bad advice.

I can’t say I read the bible very much.
I assume as it was a product of its day written by numerous people it included outdated ideals.

Three pieces exploring this question.

First, secular humanist Don Wharton presents the NO case in:

A CERN-Level Proof of Mythicism

Then philosopher and religious studies academic Bill Cooke responds with the YES case in:

The Five Challenges Unanswered

Finally, Free Inquiry editor Ronald Lindsay adds his own perpective in:

The Mythicist Claim: Not Likely

Having read all three essays (each of which, BTW, are by atheist humanists) I have to agree with Cooke and Lindsay that the mythicist case is not anywhere near as strong as Wharton claims.

Nonetheless, I’m sure they’d all agree that whether or not a real human Jesus existed, he would have been nothing like the magical character of the Gospels.

It is not an uncommon name. There’s heaps of Jesus Christs about.

If he existed, his name was Yeshua, in the Aramaic language spoken in the region.

Yes and he could not have been white.

David Dalaithngu said, “If Jesus were real he’d be black and he wouldn’t be up in the sky looking over us, he’d be one of us”.

Someone with both a Jesus fish and a ‘Magic Happens’ bumper sticker on the back of their car would beg to differ. Not me though: those people are nuts.
