I haven’t popped in here for quite some time, but some of the older members might remember me as ‘the herb lady’.

Due to poor health, I have decided that my little herb garden Must Go. I can no longer care for it, nor do I feel I should depend any longer on the kindness of friends to maintain it. Already, those friends have begun on the task of removing plants in preparation for the entire area to be paved over.

It has occurred to me that some of you might like to come and help yourselves to what is left. It’s a case of ‘you do the digging and removal’!

I have left a small Lemon Myrtle; a large rosemary from which can be taken cuttings (take the whole thing if you’re a good gardener – only the top is green!); a good-sized cardamom plant (can be divided many times); a coffee plant; aloe vera; Mother of Herbs (Plectranthus amboinicus); a chaste-tree (will soon be dormant); ginger; spearmint (for dividing); a small amount of Feverfew.

I live in Capalaba, near Brisbane.

If anyone is interested, post a reply ASAP and I’ll provide contact details.

Culpeper! It’s been such a long, long time. It’s sad to hear you are getting rid of your treasured herbs but you know what you can handle and what you can’t. Bubba Louie might be interested in your freebies. I’m too far away, more is the pity.

Oh Culpeper, I do often think of you and the wonderful knowledge you have, it saddens me to hear that you can no longer after your garden to the level that you would like. I would dearly like to pinch the Coffee and Cardamom but Capalaba is just too far from Townsville… How long can you leave those two? Perhaps a journey south would be a good tonic for a few days???

The garden is To Go ASAP – much work has already been done. If Bubba chimes in, she might be able to plant-sit for those a bit further away.

Yes, it’s like throwing my babies away, but one does what one must do. I’ll be keeping just two or three plants (or cuttings) to put in pots, so it IS a wrench.

BTW, digging out some of this stuff is a man’s work, and anybody coming here will need to bring their own tools.

hello Culpeper. long time between posts! sorry to hear the herbs are going, are you going to keep some in pots to ease the withdrawals?

Hey Pepper. Long time no read.
No herbs required but nice to ‘see’ you.
Paving sounds pretty drastic.
Hope it doesn’t hurt too much.
