what a long winded way to say that mammals desiring offspring should do it by having sex

anyway the real horrifying finding is when they discover that there are similar degradations over hundreds of generations of other assisted reproductive technologies, we mean it’s only been 3 generations of this fun and games so maybe in another thousand years if we make it to them

Science fiction has always had cloning go bad after continual replication.
Similar to the old analogue degradation with music and videos.
Perhaps if humans were digitally replicated but that may just slow down the process.

Cloning’s fine and all but why clone an imperfect specimen? GMO a human who can regrow teeth and longer telomeres and clone them.

probably like asking why photocopy a photocopy, maybe the original died but you’re right, go to all that trouble may as well give it some improvements
