Hugely influential and much-loved broadcaster, writer and conservationist Davis Attenborough turns 100 today.
I’ve been following his many superb nature documentary series since the ground-breaking Life on Earth in 1979.

If I remember correctly, someone has to organize for that to happen. One of my great aunts died just a little short of 103, and I think I recall Mum telling me they had to contact the local politician ? to arrange it?

You know, when we always had two Boxers, I could walk around the garden with a Boxer on each side of me and pretend I was Diana, the Huntress. It’s not quite the same picture when you have a couple of crazy fawn Pugs madly Pugscuttlling around you and an old black one who keeps going into reverse and bumping into things and not knowing where he is.

GCMG is a high rank of knighthood. A rank higher than KCMG. From Yes Minister the joke goes that KCMG stands for Kindly Call Me God, whilst GCMG means God calls me God.
CBE is the next rank above OBE
