Still in Bulgaria for Stage 3 tonight, a 175 km route starting in Plovdiv and finishing in Sofia.

Yesterday’s big crash means several favourites, now out, will be watching this stage from their hospital beds.

Coverages starts around 8 on Viceland and SBS On Demand.

Holy pump!

That’ll be a brutally difficult ride. 1200-odd metre rise over 150 km with virtually no respite.

Heck!

No. Sofia means “Holy Wisdom”. The mosque (originally a church) was named after the “Holy Wisdom” (holy ghost) of the Trinity, whereas Sofia Bulgaria was named after the Church of Sofia (Holy Wisdom) erected in that city.

According to what I’ve read, there’s evidence of human settlement there dating to the sixth millennium BC. That’s 8000 years.

I had a piece of finger nail growing out of the top of my head. Yes. You read that correctly. And “had”…. Mr Doctor freeze gunned it.

Not only have I seen that before, but it was a different “doctor” who used a freeze ray to stop time.

Before you scratch your head again, I suggest you look at the clock, before and after.

It doesn’t seem that strange to me; nails and hair are both made of keratin, so if a hair follicle overproduces the keratin I can see it forming nail-like structures.

Stage 7 tonight and it’s the longest stage of the Giro, a gruelling trek of 245 km that will end with the steepest climb so far, to the summit of Monte Blockhaus.

Not in WA.

Remember we only settled the place to claim the rest of the continent to keep the French out (and probably a good thing too). Given the climate and geography, there isn’t a year round economy to keep the rural areas prosperous.

That’s half the problem. The quaint little European villages don’t have a year round economy either but by God Luigi and his forebears have lived there for thirteen generations so he’s not going to move to Lombardy to drive trucks any time soon.

20 years ago, my brother was given a trip to Europe and when he was in England he stayed in what we now call an airBNB.

He was given the “new” bedroom, which was built in 1686.

It’s still called the New Bedroom.

Meanwhile, a few years ago, I was making my way through some extremely thick bush/swamp with a large excavator, and I’m certain that I was the first white person to ever be there.

We are still a new country.

I kinda was vaguely aware of the news, but I didn’t think of that enough to change my tip. I only saw the result after I got home (I was down at the shopping centre to collect my order from the pharmacy and get ignored by the local lovely ladies) and then went “slaps head* “I shoulda changed my tip!”

Can’t do much about time-zones mate.

It is the hand that nature has dealt us, and we must all live in agreement with nature.
But I have man-made fibre optics to the house, so I can offset nature with technology, at the cost of same. of course.

…and Dane Michael Valgren wins the stage quite convincingly in the end.

Stage 20 is another 200km slog but the coverage starts early, at 6:35 pm.

Stage 2 of the Women’s Giro is at 8:50 pm tonight, and the final Stage 21 of the Men’s is on at 11:30 pm.

The latter however, like most final stages, is basically a vanity stage with little racing going on.

Me, I’ll be having another early night.
