During the Yes Campaign the level of verbal attacks and vitriolic comments. It was heartbreaking. Especially for those Indigenous people on the Yes Stands getting told to “go back to where you come from”. It was really shocking the terrible things that were said.
If only Elon Musk hadn’t bought Twitter and released all that cruelty, abuse, vilification and dehumanisation in bucket loads of algorithms.
Albo was able to create an Antisemitism Envoy without a referendum.
So terribly sad.
With the Intervention the rise of malnutrition went up in Indigenous children. I watched a lecture of it the year that I went to law school. Their response was to stop reporting the raising rates of malnutrition due to The Intervention. It’s so frustrating.
Over the weekend I finished season 3 of Total Control. Deborah Mailman is amazing in the main role.
Bloody fantastic series. An Australian political drama.
I had seen seasons 1&2, but season 3 just blew my brain. I’m glad that I have rewatched the whole series. So many powerful messages – native title, indigenous health, misogyny, racism, deaths in custody and so much more.
The end scene with Mailman addressing the viewer. That set me off, I cried and I will have to watch it again.

I was, embarrassingly, lost, for an hour trying to find it.

The vibe was great.
Kids were playing so many games.
The fierys, police, hospital etc all turned up.

So many folks painting, dancing, singing, laughing, sharing and caring.
All the kids were playing dozens of games. It was a hive of activity.
Folks were teaching kids how to play games and there was a lot of laughing and squeals of joy.
There was a ton of kids running around and having fun.

NAIDOC March today at 10 am
Last year I took a friend’s mum (with memory issued) and an Elder. My friend didn’t tell me how bad her memory was, so when I turned up I had to dress her). I put them in the Elders car.
I have to get last years photos printed out.
This year I will be able to take in what is going on.
I was extremely concerned about heat stroke and my friends mother.
And the Aunty had balance issues, so I was helicoptering. Without Spiny Norman I wouldn’t have managed.
I will get there early today.
It was another great NAIDOC week event!

There was an Indigenous woman, Gayle Kennedy, on ABC Radio National yesterday who had polio and lived in a iron lung when she was two years old. She is a famous writer now.
