A few minutes ago I had received no communication regarding the 2026 Census.
And now,
MY CENSUS IS COMPLETED

We have our form on the kitchen table, to be filled out on the appropriate night. I mean, whilst we plan for the future, I may be in hospital or have died or something.
I’m thinking that I’ll request a paper version.

Fair enough. But if I’m dead by then my body will probably still be here, at the same addressed, unnoticed.

But if you’re doing the paper form, then someone from the Australian Bureau of Statistics would come to your home to find out why you didn’t fill out your census form.

Anyway I’m not planning to be dead by then and in fact answered NO to the question, “Are you expecting to be dead on or before the night of the 11th of August?”
My pentennial joke…
You filled out my census
that night in the forest…

I haven’t done my census yet, but I think I’ll answer “NO” to that question as well.

Ours is also awaiting attention on the kitchen table. Because of the same reasons.

I got an envelope in the mail today, it appears to be the census form. Coz it has the word “CENSUS” on it, and it’s from the Australian Bureau of Spastics Spasticics, or something like that.

Yeah, fair call.
I was channeling Steady Eddie but without the personal experience.
I humbly apologise and retract my previous post.
I think I’m going to do mine the day before.

Cue the usual comments: don’t you have to wait til the 11th? Doing it early is tempting fate 🤞🏼. Haven’t even got my form yet! Don’t do it online, the government (insert conspiracy here).

Every day Aussies celebrate core occasions by eating damper and jam.

If you “enjoy” christian values then you’re an everyday Aussie.
If you think those values might just be a front for people to hide behind when they want to oppress someone, then you have too much critical thinking ability to be an everyday Aussie.
You’ll all be pleased to know the Jews have been dropped from the census form. they now have to tick other.

So are people thinking if too many people identify as Muslim we will get Sharia law.

It’s too early in the day for me to even be reading about this.
The utter bullshit that the Anglican Parish Council preschool committee members inflicted upon me in the 90s broke my brain.
The world is fucked.
I think to be fair anyone that’s wants their questions on the census should have their questions included on the census.

Maybe a blank choose-your-adventure page at the back
I tried to get some data from the ABS a few years ago; they wanted to charge me a ridiculous fee, even though I wasn’t sure the data they were offering was what I was after, and would have to see before I was sure. I tried to point out that, as a taxpayer, I’ve already paid for the data, but they still insisted. So I checked the law: I’m required to provide the information on census night, but there’s nothing to require that I provide it free. So I’m charging a fee for it.
Is Stanthorpe where PWMs redoubt is near?

It’s clearly what they’re implying, along with the assumption that christian values are so much more progressive. Never protected a rapist even once.

A reasonable amount: say $10 per answer. I haven’t really considered what I’ll do if they refuse to pay; I’ll still be obliged to provide answers.

$50 per question here but I’m adding additional charges for how much time it takes to answer each question.

Seems fair.
I put no religion – I lost it about 26 years ago. I used to be Anglican – even taught sunday school.
my Mother in Law – who has never gone to church in her adult life, except to go to our wedding and possibly a couple of funerals, insisted on putting Anglican.
