The news item yesterday about iron deficiency anaemia and children drinking milk caught my attention – having been a big milk drinker for all of my life. I felt it must have been a bit more complicated than simply that milk made it happen. Especially given the calcium requirements for bones and teeth. And the need for protein for muscle growth. Anyway, I read some papers and found it is, indeed complicated. Here is what seems to be quite a good summary of the situation from Deakin University, with further links, in case anyone else is interested.
