Astronomers using the James Webb Space Telescope have discovered an entirely new astronomical object, which they have dubbed a “black hole star”.
The object is a supermassive black hole, enshrouded in gas, hailing from close to the beginning of the universe.
The research could help explain the mysterious “little red dots” that have perplexed astronomers for years.
The object, spotted with the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), is so strange astronomers have dubbed it a black hole star.
