The Insurance Company wins because they just keep changing you to new people. It’s impossible to keep up. And Insurance Companies can lie and doctor photos without any consequences. They are so certain of this that once a tradies doctors a photo they will still send him out to “assess” another job.

I have complained to four bodies now. The amount of documentation is onerous.There seems to be no consequences. The maximum compensation is $6,300. It’s a joke.

we were having this conversation as a student was wearing some in class.. there is a privacy issue and an intellectual property issue with students recording lecturers/tutors and the content they provide. While these are real issues that are academic protections, my guess is that the uni is against them because now someone can stream a course/classes to non paying people. Sure they don’t get an official degree at the end, but knowledge is power.. and/or the scope for students having an advantage in future iterations of a unit is high..

IIRC, the third one (Titus Alone) was very different and didn’t think much of it at all.

Started off with an injured kangaroo on the road near Mini Me’s school. It had clearly been hit by a car. After drop-off, I saw an ambulance and six cars pulled over to help the poor creature. Since its insides were on the outside, I’m going to say it would have been euthanised.

The relief teacher told me I was disrupting the class, so I laughed at her and reported her to her arch nemesis, who stormed off and gave her what-for. The principal was informed; I don’t know what he said but she glared at me for the rest of the day. There’s a system, I’m sticking to the system which everyone else also sticks to, don’t blame me because you can’t control the class. I’m with one kid who’s quietly doing a puzzle. Pfft.

Lockdown, making me late for Father’s Day stall at Mini Me’s school, even later cos I stopped to watch the ducklings crossing near the tuck shop.

I don’t miss participating because I have to keep up to date, nor assisting Mr buffy giving CPR courses. We took a group of GPs through once. The one who knew it best had spent quite a bit of time in Emergency. That practice did actually have to use the skills in the carpark at one stage too.

I was talking to someone yesterday whose hubby is an electrician. She was saying he’s required to do the CPR course every six months. Google says in Qld, it’s every six months but in other states, it’s annually.

Clear, sunny, blue sky, a light air, its a cool 15.7° C and 80% humidity.

To the doctor this morning, for an osteoporosis belly injection, to review blood pressure medication, and check what appears to be skin infections in various places.

We got Craig’s boat’s sonar transducer changed over yesterday. It was a long and extremely awkward job. I thought I would suffer today for putting and holding myself in such awkward positions, but surprisingly, I am no stiffer than usual.

After consulting the doctor, I have a mud crab to extract meat from. Mrs V wants to eat it with crusty bread for lunch.

I also saw an ad for little motorised flying gear for paper airplanes. I want one. Or 3. Pity their ad calls a pack 2 the “father and son” deal. I used to make paper planes when I worked in early ch’hd ed. A fairly cheap form of activity to educate and entertain kids when your equipment budget is non-existent. My sons and I spent many hours launching them off the front verandah in the mtns of blue. I have no memory of their dickhead father doing stuff like that.

The GP at the urgent care clinic talked about the mbira, which I’ve not heard of before. He played a short clip (pretending it was a hearing test as the reason for being there was an ear infection) and it sounds really pretty. He was a great dr, I’d recommend him.

OOHC (Out Of Hospital Care) was approved before I left hospital. 2 times 2hrs a week (house help, vacuuming bathroom etc) plus medical appt transport.

They finally found someone to do it yesterday. Arranged for Tues and Fri. But haven’t had formal confirmation yet.

Better clean the place up a bit before Allison turns up. :)

Clear all day with a top of 29. Currently 16 in the bedroom so probably 13 outside.

Last day at Father’s Day stall. We had a complaint yesterday from the mother of a prep kid, saying he just bought crap, what happened to gifts like coffee mugs and keyrings? Our reply was that we have a variety of gifts like metal water bottles, LED lights, toiletries bags etc so dads don’t end up with seven coffee mugs over the course of school stalls (more if there’s siblings who double up). She replied, apologising for not knowing we had a variety even though it was advertised on social media. Preps tend to buy a lot of little things, the first things they see. Older kids like to bundle things themselves.

Mini Me has slept through the night with her ear infection, despite the painkillers wearing off a few hours ago, so that’s good. I’m going to strongly recommend she stay home today even though she really wants to help at the stall.

Bruna used to “point” at whichever gum tree a koala was in. Long thinks he took down a wallaby in the backyard once. Bruna chased it for a minute or so and it lay down. She sat next to it. I removed Bruna. Only to return to find Long nuzzling at the wallaby. We didn’t realize the wallaby had jumped a couple of fences into the back yard. I opened all gates and gently walked around to encourage it to head off into the Botanic Gardens over the road. And then there was the echidna that Long discovered was very prickly when you nudge it.

When i tried to join the Qld Police (didn’t make it, there was about 2000 applicants that year, 300 vacancies, and me, at 33 years old, around no. 500 on the list), the bloke at Roma Street police HQ looked at my application and entry test results, and said ‘hrmph…a couple of years back, you’d have been in like shot, probably made sergeant in 5 or 6 years’.

There’s an excellent book by the name of Chickenhawk, by Robert Mason detailing his time flying those in Vietnam during the war.
He said the rotors had so much inertia/energy that you get to 100% rpm on the ground, quickly take the engine back to idle, then get the chopper airborne and do a 360° rudder pedal turn and land again.
He also grew weary of dodging the smaller tree branches and just smashed through them when needed.
It’s one of my fave books.

Can’t remember who posted this earlier, but I have some information.

I was told to do the earthworks as per the plans.

Started the job, shifted some earth, checked some levels, realised that something was wrong. Rang the building company. Told them that the plans were wrong and I needed a site supervisor onsite to sort out the problem.

“The plans are right, they have been signed off by the owner, the builder, and the city, just do the earthworks as per the plans”

I disagreed but was shut down, and told to get back to work.

After some hours, I rang again, asking for someone to confirm that the idiotic plans were what I was supposed to do.

“Just do it as per the plans, dummy”

Ok, malicious compliance begins. I start to dig until I reach the point where I’m about to undercut the new water tank by 3 meters. I ring again and tell them that I’m not prepared to dig underneath a 170ton water tank, and am leaving the job to go do something sensible elsewhere.

The next morning I got a phone call yelling at me to explain why I have dug a crater where the roof of the house would be underground. I met the building supervisor onsite and he was livid.

I showed him the plans and the levels and explained the problem that he could have sorted out yesterday if he had have listened and turned up onsite.

He looked at the plans, and realised that I had done the earthworks “as per the plans”.

It was a giant fuckup, but my hands were clean.

There’s a lot more to that story, but today is not the day.

Had 2000Lts of diesel delivered yesterday. It was $2.32 per Litre which was less than expected since the orange utan made everything worse, but more than most of the quotes I’ve done recently. At least I’ve had a disclaimer in my quotes about the price of fuel being over $2Lt.

I’m not in the military, but when I’m in trouble during my “hobby”, that slap noise is the best noise I could possibly hear.

When I feel it in my chest, I know I have someone above me trying their best to help.
