For the first time, I’ve tried drinking CC and dry.

I didn’t know what that meant for most of my life, but it’s Canadian Club, and dry ginger ale.

Yeah yeah, welcome to the 80’s or whatever, I was busy at work and didn’t get to go “Clubbing”, which is what I used to think happened to Canadian seals.

As it turns out, I’m unimpressed with it. I’ll go back to diet coke & whisky.

I never went clubbing, never drank fancy drinks. Just beer, wines and the occasional G&T. I was into Beaujolais for a while.

I did a bit of clubbing in the 1980s :)

But my usual drinks included SCOTCH and dry, G&T, champagne cocktails etc. Quite a lot of bubbly.

Gets rid of the morning “cocky’s cage floor” mouthfeel.

Hmmm…I just clean my teeth and drink normal water to remove that feeling.

Trying the other amphora wine, the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon, $53 a bottle.

Nose: mild red berries, hint of clean wet clay.

Palate: understated fruit soon turns more luscious while remaining light and elegant. A little pepper on the nice dry cherry finish. They say this one will age well.

It’s a pleasant wine and as I suspected, perhaps too delicate to pair with food – enjoy it on its own as an afternoon tipple.

Having said that, at 14.8% it’ll certainly take you to a mellow place :)

These amphora wines are not for lovers of typically “full-bodied” Aussie wines but they’re nicely crafted by people who know what they’re doing.

It is a whole other world. I love seeing how other people’s brains work and the knowledge that they have.
