I’ve seen a couple of videos of popping a kernel with a hair straightener.

How would you build something less impractical so you could pop one kernel at a time.

Highly impractical if not impossible could have a tube you drop a raw kernel in and it falls out cooked.

It would sit on a work desk as a gimmick but actually work

A small conveyer belt running through the inside of an induction coil heater. Run them through one at a time and feed them straight into your mouth.

Actually just have a piece of metal that holds the kernel in place and retracts when kernel pops and then comes out for next piece

I reckon a small sphere, two bowl shaped cups hinged into a pop-top shape. Stick your kernel in, lock the lid, press a button to activate a small heating coil at the base of the lower bowl. Device cuts out when it pops, or reaches a temp just above the popping temp, unlocks the lid. Take your one bit of popcorn and enjoy.

just use 爱 to control 3D LASER beams to target individual kernels

roll them down a ramp spiralling around a heating element

Further idea. The popping of the kernel inside a sealed container would create a spike in air pressure. The cut off sensor would operate off this sudden spike in pressure, and would also vent it before unlocking the lid.

Good point, I’m tired and I forgot.
But you could use a steel tube a little larger than the kernels, to contain them and it’d heat up quite well.
