Before I go for a snooze, does anyone have a recipe for lilly pilly chutney? There’s LP jelly ones galore and I will make some, but I have heard of a beaut LP chutney. Can’t find it anywhere. I will scour my old recipe books later on but thought someones mum might have one tucked away.
I’m going to get bags of them next vege swap :)

Well, here’s something but you may have already seen it.

To search, did you enter the search parameters as a Boolean, as in
lilly pilly + chutney

??

This will ensure all search results contain both lilly pilly and chutney … or did you already know this?

I tried an Australian bush tucker site, but it’s all jellies when it comes to lilly pilly…

Thanks D, yes I had tried them all to no avail. But no matter.. what I might do is take a recipe for say cranberry and apple chutney, and substitute cranberrys with lilly pillys.

Nothing to do with your query, but it’s one of the more interesting pages I found….note the wattle seed at $58/kg!

I’m a bit lilly pilly’d out at the moment, but I did see somewhere where they said lilly pillies fall into two categories, one being [(like) cranberries and the other is (like) riberries (I think that’s how it goes)…

Wattle seed is free if you are under the right tree at the right time.
Still needs careful cleaning though.

I was having a browse and I came up with this page. Read down to the last 2 paragraphs. There is definately a chutney recipe available but it’s in a book. Read all about it.

I have the small leafed lilly pilly, S. leuhmanii (sp) commonly called riberry, and the taste does nothing for me.
