I stole this fro Garden Express. Thye poster has been mistified as to what was stealing her freesias. How cool is this…….

Looking out the kitchen window this afternoon I watched a Satin Bower bird ‘harvest’ the flowers off one of my Freesias. The cheeky bugger plucked each flower off the stem then flew about 10’ over to where his ‘prospecive’ partner sat.
With my flowers in his beak he then begin a quite interesting song and dance. With wings outspread and a beakful of flowers he proceeded to court his lady love.
Unfortunately for him she wasn’t impressed.
Unfortunately for me my flowers ended up discarded.
Hopefully next time he attempts this I won’t be elbows deep in the sink and may be able to grab the camera and get a picture.

hopefully she doesn’t think the seed pods are more attractive. You’ll probably be lucky that the bowerbird stops the things from popping up all over the place.
