Hi All…I’ve acquired some worms from a (lost interest) school project and wonder if it’s ok to put them in with my current worms? Not sure if they are the same variety…that’s if there are different ones?? The mother that gave them to me didn’t have much info she could give me. And I’m not that too clued up when it comes to these little guy’s either.

are they composting worms for worm farms, reddish coloured, or the greyer earthworms? if the former.. yeah fling em in.

Pretty sure tyhey’re composters for farms…reddish colour, she did say something about tiger worms?

yup, thems composting worms :) bung em in your farm.
I should look up how to package worms for posting.. I have millions of the things.
I placed worm casts in vege beds and amongst fruit trees. I just put the garden fork in and lifted the earth, tipped casts in then replaced the earth. about half a bucketful. there were plenny juvenile worms and worm eggs in the cast…well over 18 months or so my whole back yard is now crawling with them. the compost bin certainly wasn’t safe and i’ve harvested many thousands from it by placing a spare farm tray on top, some scraps inc half egg shells( they love to hide in them for their orgies) and wet newspaper, then the compost bin lid on top. now and then i have a peek and theres literally handfuls. the man takes the tray and places it on top of a worm farm and they all dissappear into it.

There’s about 5 – 6 different varieties of worms come with the worm packs, of which tiger worms are one. I think they are called tiger worms cos they’re kind of stripey, not because they’re aggressive…
