falls about laughing projects? I’m working tomorrow, big gallops race day somewhere, then Sunday I will spend keeping my eyeballs in their sockets…hopefully to have recovered by Sunday evening, in time for Midsomer Murders…

Mind you I am looking at the front bed and the ex-lettuce bed, they need organic matter then some green manure, and LOTS of chickpea straw (for soil temps)…

I have seriously neglected my garden for months, so it’s time for some serious weeding and mulching.

Yippee my seeds arrived from Green Harvest this afternoon along with my Dutch Cream seed potatoes. My weekend just got busier and my boss just emailed me with some extra shifts as well . All good

Unreal, it’s a cactus!

and yep, the prickly pear is a survivor, it is illegal to have it growing on your land now…so I pull out any that I find here, and bin them…

memories as well?

:) working as a gardener in a public shool I asked could I remove he pest species that were constantly spread by the blackbirds.. I was told.. somebody in the community planted them.. we have to wait until they die.. ? I knew that whomever planted those Cotoneasters was gone in a crusade somewhere. Now they are stuck with the Eremophilas I replaced them with.

They’re still pretty popular wit the Italian community for the fruit.

No, no memories but lots of local legend…hooray for the Eremophilias!! Fair dinkum, they planted Cotoneasters? I think I read occasionally where folks struggle to grow them…

Well to each his own, I had an online fight with someone many years ago, on the “old” forum, about these things…they are very much a food staple for Mexicans and others in that geographical area, but such a pest here…I shouldn’t have had the argument but it’s like canetoads…when OS people declare them an “endangered species” (in areas where they’re not even native) I could reach through the computer monitor and choke ‘em…mind you wink it’s like some other things one sees in folks backyards/homes…it’s their affair…

;)

chortling here. yes, it was one small piece outgrowing a 4” pot when I threw it up there. Triffid = yes cactus = yes

Prickly Pear = no

I do have a friend who has a prickly pear that came as a seedling to his carport roof.. I’ve asked him what will become of it and he said “when it comes down to my level I’ll deal with it. Until then it has it’s own part to play.”

I remember a Cactus named Spike which had a similar flower, which I took years and years ago in SA. It was on the old forum, before they killed our HTML.

Gosh Friday again. Oh well of to do the groceries. Finished work at 7.30am so I am a little tired but when I am finished shopping then it’s all over for the week and I can relax and play farmer and tend to the garden and animals.
Have a phantasmagorical day.
