localsied flooding.
I had what I call a small flood yesterday.. my house is inches off soil level.. the water threatened to wet my floor for a short time… this morn, no puddlesroughbarked said:

Our roads are now passible although some bridges are still out. There is still water covering vast areas of farming properties.
lots of rain coming through here now and flood warnings in the Broken River Basin. I’ll be fine though, I am high up.

The elderly bloke who drowned when his car was washed off a bridge was the father of a friend of ours who was killed motorbike racing.
That poor woman, first a son and now a husband. He’d only gone out to buy a newspaper.

He’d driven over the same bridge 15 minutes earlier and didn’t realize how much it had risen on the way back.
